I’m Suzy Florence and I am a Texan by birth and cuisine! My husband, Chris, also a Texan, met at Texas A & M University where I received a BA in Business Management. We have a truly remarkable adult daughter named Bailey who is our delight, as well as a little 11-pound fluffball pup named Rosie. Our family loves to eat! Tex-Mex is our all-time favorite, so you will always find a never-ending supply of tacos, fajitas, guacamole, drunken beans, and tortillas in our kitchen!
Outside of eating and cooking, I have used my skills over the years as a stock broker, brokerage principal, executive administrator, and now as a trainer. I even had a very short, yet glorious career as a kindergarten aide! I was a very active kid, always running, jumping, climbing, and playing some sort of sport. I have been in and around the gym for 25+ years. I have enjoyed running, spinning, kayaking, and hiking recreationally, but my primary focus is resistance training. I find it to be something that gives me joy physically and emotionally, while contributing to my daily and long-term well-being. I also just love lifting heavy things and feeling strong!
My love for fitness has led me to serve others by helping them move better, feel better, and be a stronger version of the people they were made to be. Why focus on what our bodies cannot do, but rather on what they are truly capable of and how that affects all of life? No matter what stage of life one is currently in, or injury one is recovering from, or interest one has, there is always a way to train that suits.
I am a certified trainer and nutrition coach because our efforts must be excellent and evidence-based, rather than trendy and haphazard. My education includes a Personal Training Certification, two specialized certifications in Assessing Functional Movement (FMS 1 & 2), a Women’s Coaching Specialist Certification (GGS-1), and a Precision Nutrition Certification (PN1). I had a broad base of clients for several years at LA Fitness in South Carolina. After struggling to train 50-60 clients effectively and relationally, I decided to train fewer clients more excellently by starting my own one-on-one training business. Lastly, I further expanded my knowledge and have thoroughly enjoyed training groups of women at THINK Holistic Fitness. As a member, you become part of something that will not only inspire you but love and support you as we all strive for wellness together!
I became certified to coach because fitness is a holistic endeavor and it’s not just about information. If all we needed was information, we would all be fit and healthy at some level. We need someone to help us apply this information to our lives in ways that we can maintain. We need someone who can help us know when and how to build these healthy habits and practices according to who we are. We need someone who teaches, but who also coaches us along the way by helping us see more in ourselves than we would have dared to believe!
Fitness and well-being affect every area of life, every moment of every day, and the days ahead. Why not engage life, enjoy it, and delight in it as much as possible? The role of fitness and nutrition in your life may feel like an overwhelming, complicated web, but it doesn’t have to. We are here to guide, instruct, encourage, and motivate you all along the way!
